November 21, 2024On 29 June 2024, Igbo Hearts hosted a Family Wellness Event at St Peter’s Church, creating an inspiring day filled with health-focused activities, community connection, and fun for all ages.
With over 45 attendees, the event brought together members of Igbo Hearts, St Peter’s Church, and the broader community through social media outreach. Participants of all ages joined us for a day dedicated to wellness and health awareness, including:
- Blood Pressure Checks: On-site health screenings to help participants monitor their well-being.
- Wellness Talks: Insightful sessions on mental health and overall well-being by expert speakers.
- Children’s Activities: Engaging games to keep the little ones active and entertained.
- Afro Fitness Session: A vibrant workout led by Azonta Fitness, uniting the group in movement and fun.

Key Highlights:
We were honoured to welcome Dr Kolade Daodu, GP at Shephall Health Centre and Health Inequalities Group Chair, who delivered an engaging presentation on “Keeping Healthy”, providing actionable tips and insights for maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Adebola Ajayi, Director of Changing the Narrative Therapies and Lead Counsellor at Embark Counselling Services, also spoke about mental health awareness and shared her expertise in supporting emotional well-being.
Both speakers enriched the event by sharing practical advice and fostering discussions on prioritising health, especially within our community.
The event culminated with an energetic Afro Fitness session led by Azonta Fitness, bringing everyone together to celebrate wellness dynamically and joyfully.
